Memorial to War Victims

A memorial of 1987 in Clock Square, Veria, awarded first prize in a national competition. The central figure is a nude male, the left leg cut below the knee, the right arm lost from the shoulder, nudity standing for the timeless, the figure a symbol of all who fell for a cause. The taut strength of the body is answered by the airy flight of the dove leaving his hand, a universal sign of peace. Photograph from the monograph in the estate archive.
